Andy Cowie

Executive Coach

I gain immense satisfaction from helping clients to:

  • Develop, stretch themselves and maximise their potential.

  • Deliver improved performance for themselves, their teams, organisation, communities or customers.

  • Maximise 'day job' experience as a foundation for a structured and tailored development programme.

I tailor solution focused coaching to the individual within their context, whether they are the client or being sponsored by their organisation. Previous clients say that I operate in a humble and authentic manner to support, help them consider issues and challenge appropriately whilst understanding a lot around the culture and context within which they work. Action/development planning is optimised for each individual.

Clients' experience is that this enhances their performance at work, delivers on their development objectives and is very satisfying, although it does require hard work on both sides.

To balance my working life I work as a Non-Executive Director, do voluntary work and I am an active British Cycling Level 3 Performance Coach.

Her vision is to expand the capabilities of leaders so that they excel and meet the challenges posed by today’s policing and business environment, and in doing so, enable individuals and teams to thrive personally and professionally, which results in increased performance.

Team coaching

Designed and facilitated for Force Executive teams on areas such as: vision, values and behavioural frameworks, creating a high performing team for a new executive team and improving team effectiveness.

sPNAC and SCC coaching experience

I worked with the Senior Careers Development Service of ACPOS/Police Scotland/Scottish Police College for 7 years and have been coaching senior police officers through sPNAC and the SCC since 2008.

As a result of a 25% increase in the success rate of Scottish based sPNAC candidates, other forces chose to use the sPNAC development programmes, including: MPS, GMP, Lancashire Constabulary, North Yorkshire Police and Merseyside.

New to role coaching for Chief Officers

I coached successful SCC graduates through selection processes for Chief Officer roles and subsequently mentored them during the first year of their new role.  Other new to role coaching included ACC to DCC and DCC to CC.
